Disney has announced that they are to close the ride and give it a re-imagining makeover which will open in 2011. By this they mean give it Disney 3D, improve the effects, and make the experience more thrilling with scenes from the new Star Wars movies.
The current ride is to have a massive send off in Florida's Disney World film park on August 14th titled Last Tour to Endor. If you happen to be in the area proceedings start at 8pm and go on till 1pm and you can but tickets at the Star Wars Celebration site.
At $75 I don't think I'll be attending but if you are a Star Wars fanatic and want to say goodbye to an old friend then this is your chance. Let me know if you happen to go.
